ストリートフォトには様々な側面があると考えています。アート的な側面、ドキュメンタリー的な側面、パーソナルな記録的側面、時代や社会を記録する側面など。先週末はそんな様々な側面を持つストリートフォトの実験的考察を兼ねて、カメラを持って公園へ行ってみました。
Hello readers, I am takeshi Ishikawa. Today I am going to write about my new experiment for street photography. I think that street photography has many different aspects, such as Art, documentary and personal records aspects that record the times and society, etc.
Last weekend, I went to the park with my camera to experiment a study of street photography with various aspects.
PARK LIFE
今回は１箇所の場所のみで撮影することに決め、公園を選びました。緊急事態宣言明けですが、天気が良く人が思い思いにそれぞれの時間を楽しんでいました。公園に着くまでの間にPARK LIFEという言葉が浮かび、それをテーマに１箇所の公園のみで撮影を開始しました。
This time, I decided to shoot in only one place and chose a park. When I arrived there after the emergency declaration, the weather was good and people in the park looked that they were really enjoying their time as they pleased. The word PARK LIFE came up in my mind while walking toward the park, and I decided to shoot in only one park with a theme of Park Life .
実験的考察とは？
What is Experiential Consideration ?
今回の撮影目的は、実験的考察です。自分は普段、モノクロームで光と影を使って都市という巨大な人工物に囲まれて生きる人をテーマに撮っています。とても具体的でありながら抽象的な写真です。ある日、写真集を眺めながらふと思ったのです。ストリートフォトには、時代的・社会的・文化的な背景を提示する側面があるのだから、そこにフォーカスした写真を撮ってみようと。人にフォーカスするのではなく、ある場所にいる人たちの行動を客観的に撮影して並べてみたら、どうなるのか？それが今回の実験的考察の内容です。
The purpose of this practice is to try experimental consideration.
I usually shoot monochrome street photography that is composed by light and shadow to shoot people who live surrounded by huge artifacts called cities. It is a very specific but abstract photo as well. One day, I suddenly thought that while looking at the photo book, street photography has so many different aspects that represent a historical, social, and cultural background. Therefore, I thought I wanted to take a photo that focuses on them.
What happens if I objectively observe the behavior of people in a certain place, rather than focusing on only people? That is the concept of this experimental study.

考察
Consideration
撮影結果を見て感じたのは、かなりシュールで、箱庭を想起させられました。淡々と撮影した事で、写真に感情が全く乗っていないのにも関わらず、写真の中の人たちからは思い思いに公園で楽しんでいる様子が伝わります。そのギャップがシュールな雰囲気を醸し出しているのかもしれません。そしてすごく客観的な視線が何か別の世界を覗くような、箱庭を覗く感覚があります。一つの小さな別世界を眺めている感覚は、無感情で客観的な眼差しと、全て同じ場所で撮影したことによる背景の統一感がそう感じさせるのかもしれません。
さらに一つ一つよく見ていくと、マスクをしてダンスに興じていたり、インスタ用の映え写真を友達に撮ってもらっていたり、周りで大勢の人が遊んでいてコンビニ袋が舞う中で結婚記念の撮影が行われていたり、上半身裸やタンクトップといった露出度の高い人たちが集まっているゾーンをマスクをし長袖シャツとスラックスを着た真面目そうな人が歩いていたりと、今の時代背景が少し奇妙なシチュエーションとして映り込んでいるのも興味深いと思いました。それと妙なキッチリ感があります。1枚目の写真や5枚目。ランダムなようである一定の間隔で人と人の距離が空いている感じ。そういうものあってか、思い思いに楽しんでいるようで、ソーシャルディスタンスをとってるような真面目感や規律感が写真に日本的な雰囲気を生んでる気もします。
When I saw the shooting results, it was quite surreal and reminded me of a miniature garden.
By taking the picture with no difficult thinking, the people in the photo can tell that they are just enjoying themselves in the park, even though they have no personal emotion or intention in the photo.
I think that that gap may created a surreal atmosphere. And there is a sense of looking into a miniature garden, where a very objective line of sight looks into another world.
I think that the feeling of being objective and the unity of the background caused by shooting in the same place creates the feeling of looking at one small, different world.
If you look closely at each photo, you can see so many interesting facts and moments.
For instance, people are wearing masks and dancing, friends are taking photos for Instagram,
a wedding photo is being taken with white plastic bags that are flowing up with wind, a serious person who is wearing a long-sleeved shirt and slacks is walking with a mask in an area where people who are shirtless and tank tops are gathering...etc
I also found interesting points that the current background seems to be a strange situation.
Especially when I look at the first and the fifth photos, I can see that there is a certain distance between people, which seems to be random.
Each person seems to be enjoying their time, and I could sense Japanese atmosphere in photography through the seriousness and discipline of social distances.
まとめ

今回の実験ではいつもとは全く違う撮影を試みましたが、結果はなかなか興味深いものでした。違うものの見方を体験した感じです。改めてストリートフォトの奥深さを感じました。最近物の見方が狭まってきたなぁと感じたら、いつもと違うやり方を通して違う見方を体験してみるのもありかもしれませんよ。新境地が開くかもしれません。

In this experiment, I tried to shoot with completely different approach, but the results were quite interesting. I felt that I was able to experience something different from what I usually see, and I once again felt that photography was really profound.
If you feel that your horizon is getting narrowed recentry, it may be good to try shooting with different approach or ways. It may help you to expand your horizon.
